Advanced Open Water Diver
Take Your Skills to the Next Level
Ready to see more and go deeper? The Advanced course is all about refining your techniques and gaining experience under the supervision of an instructor. There’s no classroom “final exam”—this course is designed to be 100% focused on the diving experience.
What’s Involved? You will complete five “Adventure Dives.” Two are mandatory:

Deep Diving: Learn the techniques and safety protocols for diving up to 30 meters.

Underwater Navigation: Master the use of a compass and natural landmarks to find your way.
Our Recommended Remaining Three Dives:

Drift Diving: Experience the thrill of gliding with the current—common in the waters around Mabul and Sipadan.

Night Diving: Witness the reef come alive after dark, seeing creatures that stay hidden during the day.

Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB): Perfect your trim and air consumption to glide effortlessly like the turtles.

Optional: Fish Identification. Learn to spot and name the rare macro life Mabul is famous for, from frogfish to flamboyant cuttlefish.
